![]() Without catastrophic failure upon applying it in its secondary role, I would purchase it again. Dimensions: 27 Construction: Polypropylene Color: Black Weight: 20.1oz Other Info: Bark-like wood texture with. ![]() Simpson doing his famous glove act trying to fit a medium sized glove on my hand. The original Blackthorn sticks were 2 to 4 foot long Irish shillelaghs (the national weapon of rural Ireland). I have hands on the smaller end of the scale (although I take a large glove?) I look like O.J. Some with larger hands might find it easily comes to hand. Again, I think that is due to the configuration of the hand. IMHO all you have to do is strike that shillelagh head wrong and it will crack even further/break off. And if you're looking for a 'beating stick', this ain't it. If you're looking for a quality Irish heirloom piece, this ain't it. As someone else remarked, the knob on top doesn't come to hand as easily as I would have hoped. My advice would be to NOT GET ONE OF COLD STEEL's SHILLELAGH'S. Cold Steel uses the same material in their similar cane, so unless there is some deep defect that is not apparent upon close exterior examination, this should do the job when called upon. It looks as if it would do what is required. 'A shillelagh (shill-lay-lee) is a wooden walking stick, club, or cudgel typically made from a stout knotty blackthorn stick with a large knob at the top. ![]() Of course, that greatly depends upon my doing my part on the back end. The Cold Steel Blackthorn Shillelagh features durable polypropylene construction with a handsome bark-like wood texture, raised clipped thorns, and a highly polished faux-wood head. Of course, I have not had the opportunity to whack someone alongside the head with it, so can't report on how easily it took a bad guy out.
